Openback Brdy

Openback banjo is an instrument characteristic for old time music, but of course it is also used for bluegrass or country music. It is often used for frailing style, so the Brdy model has a cut-out for playing with the thumb over the fingerboard.

Because of its lighter weight and flexible use, and its great sound, it is a popular instrument for the travelling and outdoor jamming.

The banjo has a unique mother-of-pearl inlay - a typical Brdy emblem that resembles a snowflake, however, it is 4 joined spruce branches and 4 beech leaves.

This banjo is available in several modifications - it can be mahogany or maple, lacquered with American nitro or natural shellac lacquer.

The neck can be decorated with a carving for an extra charge.

The tonering can be wooden, brass or bronze, and its shape can also vary. For our banjos we use Whyte Laydie tonering most often.
